Perspective

The minor fasting that is required today doesn't seem as big of a deal as it did 38 days ago on Ash Wednesday....

Hey, Mr. "i shall rise again" -- I have to say I am a bit disturbed by your attitude towards religious people (not as clear in this post, but obvious in others).

None of the six conservative guys are what you would describe as members of the "dreaded" religious right. Rather, I think we are best described as very conservative, free market guys, with varying opinions on social and moral issues. What we share, however, is a respect for faith and people of faith that you lack.

I hope someday that you are able to enjoy an Easter that is about more than candy and that you are able to see a glimpse of the face of god by looking into your children's eyes. Your snide remarks and mockery of other people's faith may make you feel smart and superior, but it actually makes you look ignorant and classless. I'm not trying to insult you, I'm asking you to re-consider your approach. It isn't all that constructive.

Faith has played an important role in many great American political movements, from the founding and the American Revolution, to the fight against slavery, the extension of the vote to women, and the civil rights struggles of the 1950s and 1960s. To dismiss people of faith as ignorant or crazy is a huge mistake. Is it really that hard to imagine why people value the life of a severely handicapped woman (or the life of an unborn child, for that matter)?

Again, you may not agree, but try to treat others as you want to be treated. And have a Happy Easter while you are at it.
