It's good to see the President come to his sense - and it is nice to see that the Conservative movment can still flex its muscles. It does look like the President is moving back towards his base - I noticed that he decided to support budget cuts for Katrina funding which is another step in the right direction.

Throwing out a possible name: Ted Olsen. He's not a judge, he's brilliant - one of the best trial lawyers of his generation and he's not a product of an eastern elite institution (actually - Cal Berkley). I can't imagine too many other potential judges who could out-Roberts Roberts in a confirmation hearing - but I think he could. If he'd accept the nomination - he would be an excellent choice.

Comments:
Ted Olsen? I heard that floated on the radio this morning. Talk about itching for a fight, the left would pop a collective vein.

In that case, I support Ted Olsen.

Not to burst anyone's bubble (I like him too) but Ted is considered old (mid-60's) in the category of SC candidates. Yes, Harriet was 60, but that raised some eyebrows, and I think was the ceiling as far as age goes.

You've got Jail!

The Meiers thing is a slap in the face for you Bush loyalists, but its really hardly the major problem.

Lewis Libby. Locked on target captain! Fire!

Indicted and Resigned! Confirmed Kill Captain.

One down, many more to go... Carl Rove. Locked on target....

This won't stop here. DeLay, Frist, Rove, Abrahamoff, AIPAC. We will be investigating, indicting and convicting all you criminals.

As soon as we have one of you in the dock you start turning in your friends. As they say no honor among thieves.

I love the new talking point the republican have come up with, the so called "criminalization of politics". Thats so funny. We have a new counter talking point called the "criminalization of criminals". This new Bush term is turning out better than I tought it would.

I can just see you sitting on the couch, flipping channels - you must be so pleased.

I'm happy for you.

Braveheart,

You really have no attachment to reality.

Who are the "Bush Loyalists" -- have you "read" this blog at all? There's plenty of criticism of the Bush administration, particularly over the Meiers nomination.

AIPAC???? Do you think we should send the US troops in Iraq over to Palestine to evict the Israelis? No speeches please, just answer the question.

And my favorite line of yours: "convicting all "you" criminals". Does this mean
all people who disagree with you belong in jail?

The picture of America you paint is stark and clearly unAmerican!

Braveheart proves the point about the "criminalization of politics." All Republicans are criminals, see, because they are Republicans. The one thing this proves is that the left is no longer liberal, but fascist. Using the power of the state, rather than the ballot box, to achieve your political ends is what fascism is all about. Crimes committed by top officials -- lying under oath, suborning perjury, selling military hardware in exchange for illegal campaign contributions -- are to be cleansed from the public record in order to focus on real crimes -- like people being Republicans. Sigh.

C'mon Braveheart, I've broken most of the ten commandments, maybe even all of them, can you say you have never broken a law either. Last time i checked, alot of our laws are sort of loosely based on them. my point is, everyone screws up, liberal and conservative alike. anyway, enjoy your pull during tonights cnn.
