Rope-a-dope

You can always count on the Dems to overplay their hand. When they start to get confident, they reveal who they really are... and it is not a pretty sight. The Democrats have realized this, which is why the new word in the Democrat caucus is to stop talking about Iraq until they come up with an actual policy they agree on! Don't hold your breath waiting for it.

The new Republican ad, which hammers home the defeatocrats cut and run strategy is brilliant. If Democrats respond (which they will), we will have a debate on whether or not the Democrats are surrender monkeys. This is the equivalent of a debate that centers on whether or not you beat your wife. Democrats can't win on that ground, so Republicans are goading them with this ad into keeping the story -- and the focus on the Democrats own over the top defeatist rhetoric -- alive.

If you get a chance, watch the video.

Hat tip to Captain Ed for coining the term, Defeatoctrats.

SENATOR CALLS ON BUSH TO TAKE DOWN ATTACK AD
Sat Dec 10 2005 16:41:38 ET

Today, Senator Daniel Inouye, the Ranking Member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee and a recipient of the Medal of Honor for his service in World War II, released the following statement:

"As a Veteran of World War II, I know what it’s like to fight a war and put your life on the line every day. I also know what it takes to win a war, and I know that politics and an attack machine like the President’s plays no part in it.

"The Republican Party’s latest ad is a shameful and disgusting attempt to distract the American people from the problems in Iraq. It may improve the President’s political fortunes, but the American people and our troops will pay the price. I hope that President Bush realizes how shameful it is to play politics when what we really need is leadership, and that he will direct his Party to take down this ad immediately."

Great to see the ad is working. It is good to see they found a democrat politician to respond who hasn't accused our troops of terrorizing women and children or stated that our troops can't win this war.

Interesting to see the democrats believe it is disgusting to air an ad that does little more than replay their own words back to the American people. I share the disgust, for a different reason.
