Raise a glass this weekend...

Ronald Reagan was sworn in as the 40th President of the United States 25 years ago Friday.

Comments:
Ah yes, the good old days. When the national debt was still less than a trillion dollars. Since then its gone from .9 trillion to over 8 trillion dollars. That 27k of debt for each American to treasure and pass on as a family heirloom for future generations.
For a family of 4 thats over 100k worth of federal debt. And except for a brief respite when the debt actually dropped during Clinton's presidency, all that debt has been accumulated by Republican
presidents. Thanks for screwing that up for America!

not to mention ignoring the aids crisis, creating an even bigger gap between rich and poor, selling arms for hostages and my personal favorite--training and financing the creation of al qaeda. what a guy.

25 Years Ago on Friday...

1. Ronald Reagan was sworn in.

2. Within an hour, the hostages in Iran were freed (Iran knew Reagan would kick their ass).

Don't forget that Reagan's birthday is coming up (Feb 6th). Remember to raise a glass on that day too!

1. Ronald Reagan was sworn in. ( I like the man as a human being just not as a president)

2. Within an hour, the hostages in Iran were freed( you can't seriously believe that Reagan or the fear of him had anything to do with freeing them do you? In fact the hostages were probably kept longer by none other than GHWB so reagan could win the election.

I will say this about reagan. He had the good sense to try and prevent wars rather than launch them.

Within an hour of being sworn in, the hostages in Iran were free. Coincidence? No way. Iran knew Reagan would begin lobbing ICBM's up their butt, and would take whatever decisive measures were necessary to get the hostages back safely.

I firmly believe they knew they didn't have a Carter on their hands. I can only imagine what Reagan would have done if Iran killed any of the hostages. But I'm sure the consequences would have been severe.

I do agree with you that Reagan had the sense to attempt to prevent wars instead of launching them. However, he wasn't afraid of using military might when necessary. Thank God.

Do we really need to go over history lessons again?
