FYI: The pins cost $1.25 even if you don't mention us. But I figured they should know where they are getting their business from!

UPDATE: My pins came today (only ordered three, sorry SCGs you are on your own). I have been giving this issue a lot of thought and I really think it is important we stand up in defense of the Danes on this. Consider the fact that the Danes are being asked to apologize for the work of a cartoonist and to renounce their support for free speech by arresting or punishing the publishers/cartoonists/newspaper.

This is an issue that should bring liberals and conservatives together. Instead, we have the media and many "smart" people (including our own state department) essentially siding with the lunatics who are threatening to behead the cartoonists. Does anyone think appeasment on this issue will lead radical islamists to moderate their tone or abandon violence? No, it will simply embolden them to ask for more by demonstrating that violence (and the threat of violence) is an effective way to get what you want.

If you missed this essay by Bill Bennett and Alan Dershowitz (yes, that ALan Dershowitz) in the Washington Post on this, you need to catch up. Here is their final paragraph, which just about sums it up:

When we were attacked on Sept. 11, we knew the main reason for the attack was that Islamists hated our way of life, our virtues, our freedoms. What we never imagined was that the free press -- an institution at the heart of those virtues and freedoms -- would be among the first to surrender.
