…this vicious cycle of bitterness and violence
"The international community has to work with the parties to break this vicious cycle of bitterness and violence."
In an interview earlier today, The United Nation’s chief aid official Jan Egeland uttered this overused and disingenuous canard yet again while decrying Israel’s “disproportionate use of force.”
Let’s go through the cycle shall we?
Israel is attacked by those pledging only to destroy her. The attacks are focused on the civilian population in a manner intended for maximum civilian casualties.
Israel responds with military force on hard targets intended to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure and support systems. Operations are limited by the desire to minimize civilian casualties. These actions usually put Israeli forces in more danger.
Israel is singled out for using disproportionate force. Calls for a cease fire and negotiations follow. Appeals are made to “both sides.” Both sides being the democratically elected Government of Israel and the terrorists entities who’s publicly stated goal is Israel’s destruction.
Israel backs down and gives in to the will of the “International Community.”
Israel is attacked by those pledging only to destroy her.
It really is a vicious cycle isn't it?
